“Binding and loosing” is one of those phrases you might hear in church, but many believers aren’t fully sure what it means. Some use it casually in prayer, while others avoid it altogether because it feels mysterious.
But Jesus gave this principle to His disciples for a reason. It’s not a formula or magic words—it’s a spiritual authority rooted in His Word. When we understand it rightly, binding and loosing becomes a powerful tool for prayer and warfare.
This is Day 13 of our 31-Day Spiritual Warfare & Prayer Journey. Today we’ll uncover what binding and loosing really means and how to practice it in daily life.
Matthew 16:19 – “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Matthew 18:18 – “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Jesus gave His followers authority to enforce heaven’s will on earth.
Think of it like keys—you lock what doesn’t belong and open what does.
Today, choose one area of struggle in your life. Write a short “binding and loosing” prayer for it.
Example:
Speak it out loud and notice how it shifts your mindset.
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me the keys of the Kingdom. Teach me to use the authority You’ve given—not carelessly, but with wisdom and faith. Today I bind the works of the enemy in my life, and I loose the promises of God over every area. Let heaven’s will be done in me as it is in heaven. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Binding and loosing isn’t about formulas—it’s about agreement with heaven. When you align your prayers with God’s Word, the enemy’s grip loosens and God’s will is released.
This is Day 13 of 31. Tomorrow we’ll talk about the power of agreement in corporate prayer—because sometimes the breakthrough comes when we stand together.
Question for you: Have you ever prayed by binding the enemy or loosing God’s promises? Share your experience in the comments—it could encourage someone to try it today.
